The purpose of the Advisory Group on AI Values Alignment is to engage with internal and external stakeholders on the proper intersection of AI Values and emerging and future AI technologies to ensure all stakeholder perspectives are heard, and to advise the Mayor on the refinement and alignment of the District government’s articulated AI Values on an ongoing basis.

The District government’s six articulated AI Values are as follows:
  • Clear Benefit to the People
  • Safety & Equity
  • Accountability
  • Transparency
  • Sustainability
  • Privacy & Cybersecurity

The Advisory Group on AI Values Alignment shall conduct public listening sessions, and review specific AI tools, deployments, or technology and advise on how that tool, deployment or technology might best be brought into alignment with the AI Values.

The Advisory Group shall include the following public members, who shall not be employees of the District government:
  • A public member to serve as Co-Chair
  • Additional public members whose expertise shall include
    • Racial equity
    • Disability rights
    • Labor relations
    • Criminal justice
    • Education; healthcare
    • Privacy
    • Cybersecurity
    • Transparency/open government.

The Advisory Group shall also include the following seventeen (17) government members.
  1. The City Administrator or their designee to serve as Co-Chair
  2. The Director of the Office of Racial Equity or their designee
  3. The Director of the Office of Disability Rights or their designee
  4. The Director of the Office on African-American Affairs or their designee
  5. The Director of the Office of Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining or their designee
  6. The Executive Director of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council or their designee
  7. The Director of the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency or their designee
  8. The Chancellor of District of Columbia Public Schools or their designee
  9. State Superintendent of Education or their designee
  10. The Director of the Department of Health or their designee
  11. The Chief Technology Officer or their designee
  12. The Chief Information Security Officer or their designee
  13. The Director of the Mayor’s Office of Legal Counsel or their designee
  14. The Director of the Office of Open Government or their designee
  15. The Director of the Department of Employment Services of their designee
  16. The Director of the Department of Human Resources or their designee
  17. The Chief Procurement Officer of the Office of Contracting and Procurement or their designee
 

time commitment

The Advisory Group on AI Values Alignment will hold regular meetings subject to the District of Columbia Open Meetings Act and shall hold at least two public listening sessions in Fiscal Year 2024, and at least one public listening session each fiscal year thereafter.
