Description:

The Perinatal and Infant Health Advisory Committee shall prepare comprehensive recommendations to the Department of Health, the Council, and the Mayor that examine and address perinatal and infant health across the District by analyzing newborn screening and surveillance data, birthing facilities, promotion of breastfeeding. 

Commission Membership:

3 District of Columbia Agency designees, 8 members appointed by the Mayor.

Qualifications for Appointment:

Each voting member shall have expertise in at least one of the following areas: pediatric primary care, neonatology, obstetrician-gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, geneticis, and lactation. All medical doctor seats must be actively practicing. Consumer members must have children under the age of 5.
