DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Task Force is to advise the Mayor on ways to continue to make the District of Columbia an ever-easier place to grow older. The work of the Task Force shall build on teh last five (5) years of work of the Age Friendly DC Initiative and shall be organized around three (3) themes - the built environment, attitudes about growing older, and lifetime health and security - divided into eight World Health Organization domains and six (6) DC-specific domains.
COMPOSITION
One (1) DC Resident to serve as Community Co-Chair
One (1) representative with professional or subject matter expertise on impact and opportunities for the aging population in each of the following areas:
Local business community
Academic institutions
Philanthropic institutions
One (1) representative with expertise in each of the following domains:
Domain 1: Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
Domain 2: Transportation
Domain 3: Housing
Domain 4: Social Participation
Domain 5: Respect and Social Inclusion
Domain 6: Civic Participation and Employment
Domain 7: Communication and Information
Domain 8: Community Support and Health Services
Domain 9: Disaster Preparedness and Response
Domain 10: Abuse, Neglect, and Fraud
Domain 11: Financial Security
Domain 12: Lifelong Learning
Domain 13: Public Safety
Domain 14: Caregiving
TERMS
Public members of the Task Force shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor from the date of their appointment until December 31, 2023, unless earlier removed by the Mayor.
